Tip Of The Month

I joined with thousands of PGA members from around America in welcoming the new year and everything new in the world of golf at the one million square foot PGA Merchandise Show held annually in Orlando. It’s the crystal ball for golfers eager to see the future. I skipped the endless lanes of clothing and accouterments, devoting my attention to more important equipment helpful in lowering handicaps. Before I tell you about something that will really help your game I digress to report on the bibulous sportsman’s new best friend, a walking stick that looks like a golf club. Access to a long, plastic vial is gained when the club-head is unscrewed from the shaft. Well, it could be H20.
What really intrigued me was a computerized putting system called TOMI. After a thorough investigation which convinced me of the value of this equipment, I decided to invest and add this equipment to my resources. Through use of this equipment students will readily acquire error free putting strokes and find pleasure in practicing the perfect stroke.
Set up is fairly easy. An infared transmitter clips to any putter. A USB camera receiver is placed adjacent to the putter. The receiver connects to my laptop and voila, the essentials to great putting; alignment of club-face at address, path at impact, stroke path and rotation, alignment at impact, shaft angle, impact spot, speed at impact and stroke tempo are now displayed on my screen after taking a stroke and together we analyze and adjust your putting stroke.
This month’s tip reveals two secrets to great putting:
1) The best putters today keep their hands closer together at address. This allows hands, arms and shoulders to work as a unit eliminating excessive hand and wrist action. Thus it has been referred to as the big muscle grip. Try the modified reverse overlap grip. That is, for a right handed golfer overlap the right pinkie on the left middle finger while the left forefinger rests on top of the right middle finger.
2) Become a non-aggressive putter. I believe the best putters aim to drop the ball into the cup. It increases the effective size of the hole. With the correct pace the ball has a much better chance of falling in the side of the cup.
To set-up an appointment for a free demonstration or lesson with the new high-tech TOMI please contact me at jpallot@biltmorehotel.com or (305)401-6662. In not too long a time, I personally guarantee you’ll take 6-10 strokes off your scorecard.
