A complete functional movement analysis is provided by a Physical Therapist. This analysis gives us great insight because a person’s ability to effectively and consistently hit a golf ball is dependent upon the proper balance between the ability to stabilize segments of the body, and at the same time maintain mobility, which allows the golfer to generate force and to transfer that force though the body to the golf club and into the ball. Any breakdown in this balance can result in poor swing technique, inconsistent ball flight, and pain or injury. The physical evaluation is used in conjunction with the three-dimensional analysis to determine where there may be a problem with strength, balance, mobility, and stability anywhere in the body. This is done using a very detailed TPI medical evaluation that can detect small underlying issues predisposing the golfer to problems. Once the TPI-3D and TPI medical evaluations have been completed, a six week exercise program is constructed and monitored by a TPI certified fitness trainer located at the Biltmore Fitness Center. It is important to note that this is performance training specifically designed to improve one’s overall golfing ability, not aesthetic training that you see more commonly used in fitness centers.
